Exploring Koh Samui
Days Six & Seven: I left Koh Tao at 3PM on the Lomprayah Catarmaran and arrived in Koh Samui just before 5PM. Lomprayah offer passengers a free taxi ride to their hotel, but as I hadn't booked a hotel I just asked the driver to drop me off at Chaweng Beach. Then I walked along the road and walked into the first half-decent place, which turned out to be the very nice Chaweng Villa Beach Resort. It was more expensive than many of the travellers' resorts mentioned in Lonely Planet, but I thought the 2,500 baht (7,500 yen) was pretty reasonable for the huge bungalow I was given right next to the beach, and the price also included breakfast. The next day was my last in Thailand and I rented a small motorbike to do a little exploring and some final nature photography...
